dh
Put two fingers up and say ‘dhà’. It means two in English. There isn’t an equivalent sound in English, it’s a bit like a ‘g’ at the back of the throat.
gh
Exactly the same sound as above. Pretend to grab something with your hands and say ‘ghabh’ (sounds like ‘ghav’ in English). It means took.
ph
Pretend to push something and say ‘phut’ (sounds like ‘foot’ in English). It means pushed.
fh
Put your finger to your mouth to indicate silence because this does not make a sound (apart from just a few exceptions when it makes a ‘h’ sound).
rr
Stretch your arms out and say ‘tòrr’ (sounds like ‘tor’ in English, rhymes with ‘for’). It means lots.
